In anticipation of our partner's (Africanhiphop.com) upcoming visit to Senegal (January 2002) we focus on a relatively unknown crew from the north of the country.
St Louis, the former French colonial capital of West Africa, is at times a quiet outpost which makes it hard to imagine that there's hiphop around. Still with the likes of Marginal and Black Muslims, even Dakar knows of the presence of local emcees and during the annual St Louis Jazz Festival the rest of the world can also see what is happening out here.
Our correspondent met with Kaddu Gunz, a group that hasn't had the chance to record a proper album, but who deserve to be heard. Turn up your speakers cos we have a short realaudio report too.
